Math Challenge I-A Problem 1.27 - Tonia Yuan
Question 1.27:
There are ______ e's in this sentence.
Feedback
Counting the number of e's in the above sentence, we observe that there are 77 total e's.
Alternatively, if we spell out the word ''eight'', this contributes one ''e'' to the above sentence, which adds an additional e, for a total of 88 e's.
If you know that there is 7 e's then why do we need to spell out the word "eight"?
Thanks for asking! Both 7 and 8 should be considered correct for this question (I updated your HW feedback, sorry about that!).
The reason that both 7 and 8 should be considered correct is:
- "There are 7 e's in this sentence." is TRUE
- "There are eight e's in this sentence." is also TRUE.
Hope this helps!
