For this question I like to think of the diagram as being made up of "sticks", one for each side of the shape. We know each "stick" has the same length, how many are there? Knowing the perimeter, can you use this to then find how out long each stick is?

Hint for finding area: Can we divide the diagram into a bunch of small squares?

 Can you explain it again, I tried out the problem and I still didn't understand because the number of squares weren't an even number.   (1.29)

Counting the lines / sticks, we should get 25, right? So if the perimeter is 108, how long is each line / stick? (Note: This number is a fraction, not a whole number, so the final answer is a little messy but that is okay.)

For finding the area, I mean dividing the whole diagram into little squares like this:
