The Problem 1.11 asks Convert 9AF16 to decimal. If I don't know the base of the number how can I change it?

Same and also on 1.21 the question is just a number, I assume that we need to change into decimal?

On 1.21 (a) the $5$ in  $414_5$ indicates the number is in base $5$. For both (a) and (b) you need to convert the numbers to decimal

The number $9AF_{16}$ is a hexadecimal number (base $16$). There was an error that showed the index next to the number as $9AF16$ instead of $9AF_{16}$.
