Can I get a hint on 5.17 and 5.24a? I'm not entirely sure how to start the process.

For clarification, it's MC II-A

On 17, use the angle bisector Theorem to find the lengths of $AE$ and $EC$. Then use similar triangles to find an altitude of $\triangle CBE$.

On 24a, try to use angle bisectors.
