1. Melisa can finish a project in 2 hours, while Terry works 1.5 times faster than Melisa. How long would it take them to finish together?
2. If Iris spends 3 days and Olivia spends 5 days on a project, 1212 of the work can be completed. If instead Iris spends 5 days and Olivia spends 3 days on the project, 1313 of the work can be completed. How long does it take to complete the whole project if Iris and Olivia work together?
3. Barry has to clean his room. If he focuses and works hard, it takes him 3030 minutes to clean his room. However, Barry is easily distracted and when he got distracted it takes him a total of 22 hours to clean his room. Barry started cleaning his room 3030 minutes ago but got distracted after 1010 minutes. If he now stays focused, how long would it take him to finish cleaning his room?
1. Since Terry works $1.5$ times faster than Melisa and it takes Melisa $2$ hours to finish, how long does it take Terry to finish? How much of the project can each of them finish in one hour? Then use the answer to this last question to figure out hoe much can they do together in one hour.
2. This is similar to example 8.7. If each of them works $3 + 5 = 8$ days, how much of the project can they finish? Using this, how much of the project can they do together in one day?
3. How much of the room can he clean in one minute if he is focused? How much can he clean when he is distracted? In the first $30$ minutes how much time was he focused and how much time was he distracted? So, how much of the room has he cleaned so far? How much does he have left to clean?
