Last month the price of gas was $\$1.10$ per gallon. This month gas is selling for $\$1.32$ per gallon. Find the percentage increase in the price of gas per gallon.



can anyone please explain to me why the answer to this problem is $20\%$?

To answer the original problem: the price increase is $1.32-1.10=0.22$.  This amount is $20\%$ of the original price $1.10$ ($0.22\div 1.10 = 0.2 = 20\%$), therefore it is a $20\%$ increase.
