Physics Fundamentals

Course Description

This is an introductory Physics course that explains the concepts in Physics, including Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, etc. It builds the foundation for students to advance to the problem solving for the Physics Olympiad, Physics Bowl, SAT II and AP Physics. There are four 10-week sessions planned for one school year. Recommended to enroll in this course prior to any AP Physics courses.

This course follows the textbook Physics with Applications, by Giancoli (6th edition). This textbook is used for all the Physics Fundamentals courses and it is recommended, but not required, for the course.

Course Terms

Physics Fundamentals is offered in four terms:

  • Summer, covering Mechanics
  • Fall, covering Thermodynamics
  • Winter, covering Electricity & Magnetism
  • Spring, covering Modern Physics
