Does f^n(x) mean f(f(...(f(x))...) or (f(x))^n? Because I've seen it as both f^n(x) and f^(n)(x).

Based on the notation used in Example 9 and Problem 6, \( f^{n}(x)=f(f(...f(x)...)) \) is more likely.

In fact, the intention was $f^n(x) = ((f(x))^n$.  Sorry about the confusion; I will update the packet to make it more clear.  This was intended to be related to Example 15, with $$g(x)=x^n+1$$ and $f(x)$ satisfies $$f(g(x)) = g(f(x)).$$
